So, I know this may seem odd to some readers, but I am writing a post where I just talk about me for a few minutes. Imagine that. But, it does relate to reading and books, I promise.
For those who do not know, I write also. I have not yet finished a novel I thought was good enough to put out there to the rest of the world, but I have a few pieces in the works that I hope are going to change that. I have written some poetry that is up and available for your perusal (it’s over here).
Well, I was talking with another Indie author, oh, a month or two ago maybe? Anyway, she was assembling an anthology of short stories by young adult paranormal indie authors, and invited me to submit a story.
I thought about it and decided, what the hell, right? Whats the worst that can happen and I can do kind of a prequel/backstory for a character in a novel I am working on.
Well, I found out that the worst that could happen is I am a terrible procrastinator and now, just a couple days from the deadline, I just sent it off to be edited and I am supposed to submit the story Wednesday. I finished the first draft of it with some minor edits last night. Well, it was probably really this morning, as it was nearly midnight, I think, although I cannot be certain.
I have found that my writing mojo needs to be fueled by Bubbleberry Rockstar and German Chocolate cake. These are now must haves for the writing process because I wrote like, 4000 words yesterday. Seriously, it is amazing.
But, at any rate, the story is complete and, unless my editing partner tells me that it totally sucks and should not see the light of day (at which point I shall admit defeat and crawl back under my rock), it will go to the other author in time to be compiled and combined and it will eventually be published in the collection on smashwords. If/when that happens, I may just have to post some fun things about it here. I will keep you all posted and keep your fingers crossed for me!
